Drops
Three a day, on real footpaths inside public parks, 400 m to 1.5 km from your drop area. The park data is OpenStreetMap: 153,415 path points across Greater Melbourne and Geelong.
Your drop area is set the first time you open JF Go, rounded to about 500 m, so the server never keeps a home address. In Settings you can move it here (3 times a day), pick Close, Medium or Far, and ask for step-free paths.
Collecting
- Within 40 m of the drop, plus GPS wobble, never more than 65 m.
- GPS accurate to 65 m or better, from the last 90 seconds.
- Drops close at midnight. New ones land the next day.
Points
10 + 2 per 100 m
Counted on how far the drop was placed (up to 1.5 km). Gold drops pay double. The week caps at 250 Go points.
- Full points need proof you walked: JF Go open on the way (on foot, under 16 km/h, at least half the distance, 300 m at most), or Health steps since the drops landed (60% of the distance).
- Half points if most of the trip was driven.
- Base points (10, gold 20) if there's no walking proof.
- After collecting, an optional exercise on the spot is worth +20 for 30 minutes.
What stops cheating
- Too far away: "About 850 m to go. Keep walking."
- Fuzzy GPS (over 65 m), or a location older than 90 seconds.
- An impossible jump (over 150 km/h since the last location).
- A location the phone marks as fake.
Crates
Most drops leave a crate. It opens with steps walked anywhere, counted from when you got it: small 2,000, big 5,000, gold 10,000. The bag holds 3. Everyone gets a free big crate every Monday.
Opening one pays a JFmoji item you don't own yet (big crates: Normal or better, gold: Uncommon or better) and 10, 25 or 40 Go points.
Blocks
The map is cut into hexagons about 350 m across. Walking with JF Go open credits your gym's steps in every block you cross, except your home area (your drop area's block and the six around it).
A block belongs to the gym that walked it most over 7 days (150 steps minimum). Your gym's walking shows straight away. Other gyms' walking shows the next day, as a colour only: never a name, a path or a time. Each club's own block is always theirs.
The beam
An optional camera view: a column of light stands where the drop is, worked out from GPS and the compass. Inside the collect range the item appears at the foot of the beam and a tap collects it. No compass? Drag to turn.
Who can see it
Only two accounts: yours and Gab's My Training. Everyone else has no JF Go row, the screen sends them straight back, and the server answers "not found". Try it in step 9 of the tour.
Pilot settings vs launch
| Now (you and Gab) | Launch | |
|---|---|---|
| Go points | Stay inside JF Go | Count on the challenge board |
| After dark | Collect any time | 6am to 9pm, daylight only |
| Other gyms' blocks | Show after 1 walker | Show after 3 walkers |
Each one is a switch in Controls → Rules, so you can feel the launch version now.
Found with this lab (6 Oct)
- A jump is forgotten after 20 seconds. Claim straight after a fake-GPS jump and it's refused. Wait for the phone's next location upload (every 20 s) and the same claim pays base points and a crate. The server already records the jump; the claim just doesn't look at it. Try it in step 5 of the tour.
- Stale GPS can loop the map requests. If the phone hasn't reported a location for 45 seconds and the blocks are over 2 minutes old, one tap starts a loop of block requests, several a second, until the GPS comes back. One-line fix. Try it: All tests → Lost signal, then watch the Log.
Both are in the live pilot. Neither is fixed yet: the lab matches what's live.
Testing outside for real
- Jamie: TestFlight build 40 (1.0.12), then My Training → Challenge → JF Go. The App Store version can't use location yet.
- Gab: Safari at app.jamiefitness.au, her normal login, My Training → Challenge → JF Go.
- Keep JF Go open while you walk. Locked-screen walking still counts through Health steps once they sync.
